Dr. Amy Fleischer & Dr. Bridget Wadzuk - "The Dynamic Interaction of Green Roofs and Building HVAC Loads"

Green Roofs are a keystone feature of sustainable energy design. Green roofs provide onsite stormwater management and can contribute to decreases in building heating and cooling costs. This project has brought together experts in both stormwater management and in thermal analysis to study the impact of green roof design on building HVAC loads. The talk will focus on Villanova’s history in green roof design, on the heat transfer aspects to be considered in green roof design, on the design details of the CEER green roofs, and how these aspects can be integrated into a mathematical model to predict thermal behavior.
